Shiatsu Workshop by Keita Ochiai -Treating Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer :The last two weeks of life-

We hosted a Shiatsu workshop instructed by our president, Keita Ochiai, on October 14th 2018.

Keita shared his Shiatsu treatment experience on his client who had terminal cancer.  She passed away at age 51. He had been treating her from 2014 through this May. He had noticed something was not right with her body condition.  She felt pain all over her body all the time, even though her pain was released after every Shiatsu session. She had regular check-ups with the doctor and Keita also suggested that she consult with a doctor.  However, nothinike zoom air review adidas adipower attk 1.8 yeezy-grigie-350 تغيير اسم سماعة البلوتوث reikel akkus fúró alkatrészek nike-air-max-for-sale reikel akkus fúró alkatrészek arlena witt książka empik dallas-cowboys-game reikel akkus fúró alkatrészek 24bottles college football store thrasher póló olcsón cuello sin fin a crochet amazon nike-air-jordan-1-mid/ ng was found until she was diagnosed as having stage 4 pancreatic cancer this May. Pancreatic cancer is the most difficult cancer to find and diagnosis.  She had one shiatsu sessions early this year and six times after she was in hospice over her last two weeks with the doctor’s permission. We could tell that there was a strong bond between the therapist and patient.

The last six sessions were over 60 minutes each. Her body was very sensitive to any stimulation.  He used only palms with very gentle pressure. He put his palm on her abdomen for over five minutes to feel what her body needed.  He mainly treated her abdomen and legs to eliminate swelling (ascites) and toxins in her body.  By the way,  he wears gloves before every shiatsu session to make his hands warm, even though his hands get very warm after his sessions start.  She felt good and smiled at each treatment. After the second treatment, she was able to get up from the bed and see Keita off at the entrance door. It was very impressive for him to see her improvement. Early the next morning, she vomited and had diarrhea.  Her constipation that she had for nine days was gone with Shiatsu treatment. She was tired and her doctor stopped her from taking Shiatsu treatment that day. After her third session, her energy was good enough to welcome her parents who had arrived from Japan one week before she was to pass away. We believe that Keita’s shiatsu helped to create quality family time in her last moments. Her very soft voice of “Thank you, thank you, thank you” after the last session will be in his mind forever.
It must have been very hard for him to see the cancer progress and take the life of his patient. We want to thank Keita for sharing his experience. we were able to learn not only about Shiatsu technique from exchanging Shiatsu with him,  but also how we can impact someone’s life through Shiatsu. We had a small number of participants, however, this was one of the best workshops we have ever attended.
CSSBC will continue to host workshops like this to promote Shiatsu and share our Shiatsu experience with each member.
